By establishing rowhistory.net the River & Rowing Museum aims to bring rowing experts round the world together, promote research in rowing history, enhance the museum’s international archive and information, and make the museum’s collections accessible.

How do I make a posting? |
|
To make a posting to a discussion you first need to click on the title of that discussion. This should reveal a list of all postings made within that discussion.
To make a posting simply click ‘reply’, type in your contribution and then press ‘submit’. Your posting should appear in the list of postings.
Please note that you can only make postings to discussions on the subjects you have subscribed to.
You can subscribe and unsubscribe to discussion subjects by changing your membership options.
Please note that you must be connected to the Internet at the time you submit your posting.

rowhistory.net is a closed discussion forum. This means that membership is only open to those people invited to do so by the River & Rowing Museum.

Who can make postings? |

Only members can make postings to the forum.

Who can view the site? |

The rowhistory.net forum is intended for members only. However, it is impossible to guarantee privacy with this type of forum and it is possible that others will be able to view the site, but not to make postings to it.
Information, images and postings contained within the forum may be published and used by the River & Rowing Museum.

Which discussions can I contribute to? |
|
In applying to the forum you indicated that you wished to contribute to discussions on a number of identified subjects. When you log in to the site (using the User Name and Password provided in your confirmation email) these discussions will be presented to you at the top of the page

How can I see postings relating to a particular discussion? |
|
By clicking on the title of an individual discussion you will be able to see a list of all the postings made within that discussion. This includes postings made by yourself as well as all other members.

How can I identify recent postings? |
|
When you log in to the forum a pink envelope symbol appears next to any discussions which have received postings since the time you last logged in.

How can I organise postings within individual discussions? |
|
You can arrange the individual postings by member, date, thread etc.
|
What are the other discussions which I can see? |
|
When you log in to the forum the discussions you can see at the top of the page are the ones to which you have subscribed.
Following this there are a number of discussions within the ‘rowhistory.net admin’ section. These contain information about the forum, its purpose, an occasional newsletter and notices posted by rowhistory.net moderator or by River & Rowing Museum staff.
Following the ‘rowhistory.net admin’ section you will see a number of other discussions. These are the discussion on subjects in which you did not indicate an interest when you joined the forum. You can view these discussion but not make postings to them. You can subscribe and unsubscribe to discussion subjects by changing your membership options.

How do I know who made a particular posting? |
|
Each posting is identified by the person who made it. By clicking on the User Name next to the posting you can access information about the relevant member.

How do I change my personal details? |
|
You can amend your membership detail and preference at any time by following the profile. Please remember that this information is available for viewing by all other members of the forum.

How do I end my membership of the forum? |
|
To terminate your membership of the forum please email michael.rowe@rrm.net with the following subject line ‘Membership Termination Request – (Your User Name)’

How do I attach an image to a posting? |
|
To attach an image to a post, click on the Attach file to post link, which is underneath the message box where you make your post

Can other members email me directly? |
|
Other members of rowhistory.net can only email you directly if you have expressed a preference for this to happen. You can control this option by viewing your membership options. Naturally, emails sent directly between members will not be accessible by other members of the forum

Will anyone else contact me? |
|
You will be emailed directly on an occasional basis by rowhistory.net moderator. This will usually only be to provide you with a copy of the occasional rowhistory.net newsletter. You may also be contacted should your use of the forum lapse or should you use the site inappropriately.

Will my details be provided to any 3rd party? |
|
Neither the River & Rowing Museum nor rowhistory.net will release any of your personal details to any 3rd party. However, you should remember that the information you provide about yourself will be available to other members of the forum.
